Our Story

With a passion for music, and a strong commitment to customer service, Howard Taylor and Martin Luck have established Taylormade Music Australia as a growing, professional musical instrument supplier.

Howard is the current Musical Director of Australia’s No 1 Brass band, Brisbane Excelsior, winners of the 2026 National Brass Band Competition.

Besides teaching at the Brisbane Griffith Conservatorium, where he recently completed his Masters of Music in Conducting, Howard travels extensively around Australia and overseas running workshops and working with young musicians and professionals alike.

Tonga would be one of his favourite destinations having now been there twice a year for the last 10 years working with schools and local bands.

Martin has a wealth of experience in business, having provided goods and services to local and global organisations. He brings a business discipline to help ensure customers experience high levels of service and support, while working with global brands in order to provide high quality innovative products to the Australian market.

In its early years, the company drew upon the expertise of several former Boosey & Hawkes craftsmen, which enabled Sterling to establish itself quickly within the brass band market as a maker of hand built, high quality instruments.
